Rose Nakamura

The Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society is holding “An Evening with Rose Nakamura” on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Kahala Nui from 5:30pm to 8:00pm to honor the Founding Administrator of Project Dana. In 1989, Rose was asked by her good friend and Founder of Project Dana, Mrs. Shimeji Kanazawa, to help set up an interfaith ministry of compassionate volunteers to visit and assist seniors with support services. Rose had just retired from the East-West Center as Program Officer and Administrator after 25 years. For 28 years, Rose served as Founding Administrator, with the same spirit of compassion that led her fi rst to help organize Project Dana. She retired last October

2017. She has received many awards for her outstanding leadership and achievement, inspiring countless numbers of

individuals, staff and volunteers.

The idea of this evening of celebration came from several HPGS Board Members who have been associated with Rose Nakamura and inspired by her passion, dedication and compassion for our kupuna. The night will honor Rose for her contributions to Hawaii, with the proceeds earmarked for the HPGS scholarship program in 2019.

Join the Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society in honoring Rose Nakamura on Thursday, November 8th, 2018 from 5:30 to 8:00pm

at Kahala Nui, located at 4389 Malia Street.

The cost is $75 per person, with all proceeds going to the HPGS scholarship fund to

support those studying in the field of aging.

Wine provided by HPGS and Generations Magazine
